August 17, 2022 marked the 158th parish fiesta of the Santa Clara de Montefalco parish of Pasay City, the sole church in the Archdiocese of Manila dedicated to the said saint.
Since 2020 the festivities have been put into hold because of the pandemic until 2022 when restrictions have been loosen and the faithful are once again able to come together and celebrate.
The celebration began with a nine day novena mass presided by different priests from the Vicariate of Santa Clara de Montefalco and parishes in the Archdiocese of Manila.
On August 13, 2022, after more than 2 years, we’re back on the streets to celebrate the Marikit Festival! With the theme: Sama-samang Pagdarasal, Pakikinig, at Paglalakbay sa Kapistahan ni Sta. Clara, our BECs and MROs joined forces to showcase their talents and creativity through costumes, music, and dance.
After the opening prayer and introductions, Sta. Clara quadrangle was set on fire by a dance showdown participated by different ministries and organizations of the Parish.
Accompanied by 4 bands (San Juan Nepomuceno, El Gobernador, Millenium, Pandacan), the community, then, hit the road to bring color and music to our parishioners.
The program culminated with a surprise awarding of best performances, and closing remarks and blessing from our parish priest Rev. Fr. Nicardo Blanquisco.
On Sunday, August 14, 2022, a solemn procession took place in honor of St. Clare of Montefalco.
The procession was attended by parishioners, church servants, and devotees of Santa Clara from all walks of life in and out of Pasay City.
The procession was then followed by a celebration of mass.
Last August 17, 2022, His Excellency, Most Rev. Roberto O. Gaa, Bishop of the Diocese of Novaliches presided the Solemn Mass to honor the sainthood of St. Clare of Montefalco and as the City’s Patron Saint.
In attendance were the resident priests of Santa Clara de Montefalco Parish together with the parish priest Rev. Fr. Nicardo Blanquisco.
Also in attendance were priests from parishes in the vicariate as well as invited priests from the Archdiocese of Manila.
In his homily Bishop Gaa said that faith should come together with action as faith with action is greatly rewarded.
“Hindi sapat ang manalig lang. Ang manalig ay may bunga ng trabaho. It is call to action work at ginagantimpalaan ang lahat ng nagtatrabaho, siksik at liglig.”
Devotees from all over Pasay and other cities flocked to the church including government officials of the City Government of Pasay.
Devotees are to cherish the occasion as it took years before they were once again able to express their devotion to the ‘Talang Marikit ng Lungsod ng Pasay’ who is Santa Clara de Montefalco.
