Manila Archbishop Jose F. Cardinal Advincula released a circular on July 27, 2023, to conduct a second collection to respond to the needs of the victims of Typhoon Egay which hit places in Luzon.
“As we offer our prayers and sacrifices for the victims of typhoon Egay, we will also help our brothers and sisters in the alleviation of their sufferings. We will have a second collection in our parishes and communities during all Masses on Saturday evening (29 July 2023) and the whole day of Sunday (30 July 2023).”
Addressed to all the parish priests, team ministry moderators and members, rectors, mission station priests and chaplains in the Archdiocese of Manila, the donations collected by the parishes will be remitted to the Accounting Office of the Archdiocese of Manila until August 4.
According to National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (NDRRMC), 13 national roads in Northern Luzon were closed to the public for safety, five were killed while several individuals were also injured.
