Synodality not just gathering of data, but an experience to encounter Jesus

Encounter Jesus.

This was what Bishop Broderick Pabillo emphasized as he reminded the flock on the significance of the ongoing synodal process of the Catholic Church.

In his homily for the Fifth Sunday in Ordinary Time on February 6, the Apostolic Vicar of Taytay, Northern Palawan urged us to be more conscious of God’s presence upon doing our responsibilities as Christians.

Do we encounter God, his goodness, and his mercy in what we do?

Kung conscious tayo na si Jesus ang natatanggap natin sa Banal na Komunyon, we will not miss any opportunity to receive Him, and we receive Him with great devotion. Bakit nag-aalangan tayong mangumpisal? Confession is not a meeting with a priest but is an encounter with Christ. Bishop Pabillo added.

Bishop Pabillo clarified that synod is not just gathering of data about the situation of faith around the world but an experience of people’s encounter with Jesus and with one another.

“We encounter one another because we believe that in one another we encounter the Spirit of Christ who guides the Church through each one. Kaya makinig tayo sa kanila,” he stressed.

The former Apostolic Administrator of Manila assured that the experience of encountering Jesus through the Synod will continue in the Vicariate of Taytay because he believes that this journey of listening changes and enlivens the life and mission of every Christians around the world.
