Seek for light, meaning, hope in Jesus’ birth – Cardinal Advincula

In his first Christmas as Archbishop of Manila, Jose F. Cardinal Advincula reminded the faithful that the birth of our Lord Jesus is the emergence of light in our faith and urged the faithful to seek for Him in the darkest of times. As followers of Christ, we should always bring His light, and we should live, be guided, and be enlightened under His light, especially in the most difficult times.

Ngunit alalahanin natin na taglay natin ang liwanag ni Hesus upang magdulot ng liwanag sa madilim na mundo natin,” he said in his homily on the first day of Misa de Gallo at the Manila Cathedral on December 16.

So, when we face discouragement and confusion, let us long for light, for meaning, for hope. May our hearts leap up to behold amidst the darkness, the twinkling and colorful Christmas lights,” he added.

The Archbishop of Manila also shared the events in the history of Christianity when the light of God prevailed over darkness.

The Child Jesus, he emphasized, is the dawn of the world that “will break upon us to shine on those who dwell in darkness and a shadow of death and to guide our faith into the way of peace.” (Lem Leal Santiago/SOCOM/Binondo Church | Photo by Rian Francis Salamat/RCAM-AOC | Photogallery)
