San Felipe Neri Parish holds 9th Dress-Like-A-Saint Contest for All Saints Day

The Youth Ministry of San Felipe Neri Parish has organized for the 9th year Holy-Win: Dress Like A Saint-Contest in celebration of All Saints Day. The event was held during the 6:00 PM mass of the parish.

Parishioners and members of the parish ministries and organizations were encouraged to participate in the activity to replace the secular celebration of Halloween that parades scary costumes and appearances. The parish activity aims to showcase instead of a sacred and more meaningful celebration, and also to encourage the youth and the adults to aim for holiness by imitating the saints.

This year, there were thirty-one (31) participants who registered for the event.

For the Children’s Category (5 to 17 years old), they were encouraged to create a 1-minute video that says a quote of their chosen Saint. For the Adult Category, they were to parade inside the Church.

Highlighting the event was the celebration of the Holy Eucharist presided over by Rev. Fr. Stephen Diesta, Resident Guest Priest of San Felipe Neri Parish, who announced and gave the awards to the winners of the contest.

The Holy-Win Dress-Like-a-Saint is not only a contest but an occasion that catechizes and reminds Christians to be holy, not scary. (Fatima Llanza | Photo by Fatima Llanza/RCAM-AOC)
