Saint John Bosco Parish

The Parish of St. John Bosco Tondo is one of the parishes of the Vicariate of Sto. Niño de Tondo under the jurisdiction of the Archdiocese of Manila. It was established as a parish in July 1969. The parish covers 17 barangays of Zone 9 in the first District of Tondo, Manila. To date, the population of the parish is estimated at 88,191. There are around 18,000 households with an average household size of 4.9 persons.

Our Story

History

  • Twenty-four years after the death of St. John Bosco, Fr. Ferganini and Fr. Louis Costamagna, both Salesian Fathers were come to the Philippines. They stayed in Malate for several months.
  • Msgr. William Piani and Fr. Louis Laravaoire Morrow, his secretary, designated to the Archdiocese of Manila. They gave catechesis to children.
  • Msgr. Rufino Santos (soon as Cardinal and Archbishop) wanted that the Salesian Order to the Philippines assigned at Tondo district.
  • 1955- 1957. Archbishop Santos inspected the areas of Pritil market and Pier 10 to possible residence of the Salesian Orders.
