Fr. Roy Bellen, Vice President for Operations of Radio Veritas, the leading faith-based AM radio station in the Philippines, has cautioned the public of individuals roaming around to ask for money in exchange for healing services using the radio station’s name.
The priest reminded the faithful to be careful in trusting people offering “too good to be true” services to avoid fraud. He also asked them to do transactions only with authorized personnel.
Bellen told Radio Veritas.
Fr. Bellen gave the statement after Bea Jorda from Quezon City posted on social media a photo of two individuals roaming around their area and telling them that Radio Veritas is offering healing services in exchange for donations.
According to Jorda, her family was able to give the two individuals two thousand pesos while a person named Maricel Rosario donated one thousand pesos. The management of the radio station was truly sorry that there are people who are taking advantage of the present crisis caused by the surge of coronavirus.
Bellen.
The faithful are requested to immediately inform the radio station or report to the authorities similar incidents to fight fraud.
Bellen said.
Bellen added. (Jheng Prado/RCAM-AOC)
