The Archdiocese of Manila has warned the public about fake social media account in the name of Archbishop-elect of Manila Jose Cardinal Advincula, for the account may be used for soliciting money or releasing false and unofficial information.
Fr. Reginald Malicdem, Chancellor of the Archdiocese of Manila pointed out that there is still no official social media account of any kind named after the incoming Archbishop.
“This is to inform the public that His Eminence Cardinal Jose F. Advincula does not maintain the Facebook page “Jose Cardinal Advincula”. The Archdiocese of Manila and the Archdiocese of Capiz have not yet created any Facebook page or social media accounts under His Eminence’s name,” according to the statement.
He further reminded the faithful that all information regarding the preparation for the upcoming installation of Cardinal Advincula is released by the Chancery Office and official RCAM SOCOM platforms namely TV Maria, Radio Veritas and Archdiocesan Office of Communications (AOC) as well as through the Facebook pages of Manila Cathedral and 500 Years of Christianity.
Last April, Cardinal Advincula has also warned the public of a donation scam that was using his name in releasing solicitation letters asking for donations for his installation. (Jheng Prado/RCAM-AOC)
