His Holiness Francisco appointed Bishop Victor Bendico as the new archbishop of the Archdiocese of Capiz.
Bishop Bendico’s appointment as the new head of the Archdiocese of Capiz was made public in Rome on Friday, March 3, 2023, said the Catholic Bishops’ Conference of the Philippines (CBCP).
Archbishop-elect Bendico is the current bishop of the Diocese of Baguio who has served for six years.
The 63-year-old bishop will succeed Cardinal Jose Advincula, who was appointed Archbishop of Manila in 2021.
The archdiocese was ‘sede vacante’ for two years temporarily administered by Msgr. Cyril Villarreal.
Archbishop-elect Bendico was born on January 22, 1960 and was ordained as a priest in April 1984 in the Archdiocese of Capiz.
Aside from being the bishop of Baguio, Archbishop-elect Bendico also served as the Apostolic Administrator of San Fernando La Union from 2017-2018. (Jheng Prado/RCAM-AOC | Photo from Diocese of Baguio Facebook Page)
