Pope Francis Appoints Caceres Priest as Bishop of Virac  

Pope Francis appointed Rev. Fr. Luisito Occiano, Archdiocese of Caceres priest, as the bishop-elect of the Diocese of Virac after accepting the resignation of Bishop Emeritus Manolo de los Santos, who served the diocese since 1994.

According to CBCP News, Fr. Occiano was born on June 21, 1971; ordained priest on November 10, 1996; and was first assigned at St. Bartholomew Parish, Baao, Camarines Sur.

He was later appointment as Parochial Vicar of Naga’s Metropolitan Cathedral, and as secretary of then Caceres Archbishop Leonardo Legaspi.

He spearheaded the Archdiocese of Caceres’ Catechetical Ministry and was appointed as vice rector of Minor Basilica of Our Lady of Peñafrancia. From 2003, he served as Parochial Vicar of the Parish of Saint Francis of Assisi in Naga City.

Fr. Occiano currently serves as Rector and Parish Priest of the Archdiocesan Shrine and Parish of St. Joseph in San Jose, Camarines Sur, and Caceres Commission on Communication Director.
