“Pondo ng Pinoy” very active in responding to Pandemic

Diocese of San Pablo lay coordinator of Pondo ng Pinoy Ms. Ava Istino, who is also the finance officer of the Social Action Center, assured that the diocese is active in implementing programs to help the poor and the needy.

According to Veritas News, Pondo ng Pinoy Foundation has already conducted activities to assist the needy, especially during this pandemic.

“Opo kumbaga mahirap na sila pero sa sitwasyon nitong pandemic lalo silang nadiin sa hirap kahit anong ahon ang gawin talaga kulang na kulang para sa pamilya at saka madami din nawalan ng trabaho kaya hindi mo alam saan sila kukuha ng kakainin kaya bagamat paunti unti lang yun pwede natin itulong at gusto natin tumulong pero hindi natin alam paano lalahatin na sila ay matulungan at mabigyan ng ayuda pero at least may opportunity tayo at yun ang aming pinagsisipagan dito sa Social Action [San Pablo],” said Ms. Istino in an interview during the program, Caritas in Action.

Despite the situation, Ms. Istino believed that Pondo ng Pinoy and other individuals and groups who support the Church in doing charity works have a big contribution in the continuity of their programs for the needy.

The collection of twenty-five cents for Pondo ng Pinoy, according to her, was a lesson and gave way to conduct projects like livelihood and scholarship programs.

“Doon ko po naramdaman ang pagkilos ng Diyos na nagsimula lang sa pagbibilang ng 25 sentimos. Ito po ako ngayon gumagawa ng mga project proposal katuwang ang aking Director [Fr. Noel Panopio] tapos bumaba kami sa mga tao para maramdaman lalo na ang ginagawa mong pagbibilang ay hindi lang pala pagbibilang. marami itong maitutulong kahit 25 sentimos lang,” she added,

In the data shared by the finance officer to Radio Veritas, Pondo ng Pinoy gave approximately 5 million pesos worth of financial assistance to the Diocese of San Pablo.
