Pondo ng Pinoy is not just a fundraising scheme but an instrument of the Catholic Church in the mission of evangelization.
This was how Manila Apostolic Administrator Bishop Broderick S. Pabillo described Pondo ng Pinoy in the Radio Veritas program Caritas in Action.
The Bishop asked the faithful to continue supporting the programs of Pondo ng Pinoy who is now in its 17th year of assisting, supporting and providing opportunities for the poor to improve their lives.
Bishop Pabillo who served the Archdiocese of Manila as Apostolic Administration for almost 14 months as Apostolic Administrator encouraged the faithful to develop the habit of giving no matter how little but given not out of compassion but out of love.
“Ang mahalaga po dito hindi lang yun bente singko ang mahalaga dito yun palagian everyday magbibigay tayo para ma-develop yun habit of giving, the habit of thinking not only about ourselves but also about others yan ang isang gusto itanim ng Pondo ng Pinoy,” he said.
Pondo ng Pinoy, the poverty alleviation program of the Archdiocese of Manila was initiated by Gaudencio Cardinal Rosales, Archbishop Emeritus of Manila, and was launched at the Folk Arts Theater on June 11-12, 2004.
