Pasay’s Sta. Clara de Montefalco parish celebrates 157 years

Santa Clara de Montefalco Parish in Pasay City is celebrating its 157th year. The celebration is also for the 500th anniversary of Christianity in the Philippines. The celebration of the Holy Mass was presided over by Manila Archbishop Jose Cardinal Advincula.

“Santa Clara, Sandigan ng Pinagpalang Sambayanan  sa Kristyanong Pagmimisyon.”

Cardinal Advincula spoke about the Mission Learnings from Santa Clara in his Homily.

“Una, itinuturo sa atin ni Santa Clara ang pinaka puso ng Misyon ay si Hesus at ang makita si Hesus bilang tunay na kayamanan.”

“Ikalawa, itinituro sa atin ni Santa Clara ang pakiki bahagi sa Paghihirap ni Hesus.”

“Panghuli, itinalaga ni Santa Clara ang kanyang buhay kay Hesus sa batang edad.”

The celebration is a significant challenge for today’s youth, particularly those in our parish. Santa Clara served in the way that God wanted her to serve for Him. In this time of Pandemic, older people are unable to go outside, so it is hoped that the youth help in serving in our Parish through social media via live streaming, and even the simplest thing that you do as a youth is a mission.

Cardinal Advincula hopes that more young people will become involved in church life and mission work.

Rev. Fr. Nick Blanquisco, Parish Priest of Santa Clara de Montefalco, recalls how the parishioners celebrated the feast prior to the pandemic. He also thanked everyone who participated in the feast day live stream, which had over 550 viewers via the Parish Facebook Page. He also hopes that once things are back to normal, the feast of Santa Clara will be celebrated much more than before.

The mission does not begin with traveling to various and distant locations. The mission does not begin with spreading the good news. The mission begins in the heart; if our hearts discover that God is our treasure, we definitely share that treasure with others. (Patricia Aeriel Gorospe/SOCOM – Santa Clara de Montefalco Parish)
