Mission

Nagtatalaga ng aming sarili upang:

  1. Magsulong ng napapanahon at makabuluhang pag-aaral, pagsasanay at paghuhubog tungo sa mataas na antas ng kamalayan;
  2. Mapangatawan ang walang humpay at buhay na pag-ibig ng Diyos sa pamamagitan ng maalab na ugnayan ng mga mananampalataya;
  3. Makapagsagawa ng mga paglilingkod ng kagagyat at mangmatagalang pangangalaga hgit sa lahat ang mga kapus-palad; at,
  4. Lumikha ng pagkakataon o lugar upang isabuhay ang bagong tuklas ng pagiging Simbahan.

Vision

Isang sambayanan ng pamilyamg binuklod ng Salita ng Diyos sa diwa ng maunlad na kamalayan sa pananampalataya at ganap na pagmamahalang isinasabuhay sa paglilingkod, sa lakas at halimbawa ng pagiging tapat ni Maria bilang tugn sa kagustuhan ng Diyos.

History

  • Manila Archbishop Gabriel Reyes established Our Lady of the Assumption Parish (OLAP) on September 8 1951. Fr. Jesus Arcellana was the first parish whose first ever mass was celebrated on October 7 1951 at Lopez’ residence at Agno.
  • In 1958, the parish convent was constructed under the leadership of Fr. Rosalino Veneracion. It was mid 60’s when the parish church and convent was completed.
  • Vicente Dacany added the marble flooring of the church and acquired the adjacent lot for expansion. The neo-colonial façade was constructed and wooden front doors were constructed during the term of Fr. Edgardo Merin.
  • The projects of Fr. Sanny de Claro and the Parish Pastoral Council included the Sto. Nino side chapel, the adoration chapel, the baptistery. Choir left and the tabernacle.
  • Assumption parish covers Taft avenue east side down to Roxas Blvd. west part; from Quirino Ave. to Manila Yacht club stretching to north part until the boarders of Manila and Pasay, 15 batrangays of Zone 78 are under the jurisdiction of the parish.
  • Other establishments within the zone are Paraiso ng Batang Maynila, Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas, Rizal Memorial Sports Complex, Philippine Sports Commission and Department of Finance.
  • Under the stewardship of Fr. Benjie Ledesma, total renovation of the church started on February 4 2013 which after six months was dedicated on August 15 2013, the feast day.
