Mission accompanied by companionship and truth

Manila Archbishop Jose F. Cardinal Advincula presided over the Fiesta Mass on the Solemnity of the Nativity of St. John the Baptist at St. John the Baptist Parish, Pinaglabanan, San Juan City last June 24, 2023.

In his homily, Cardinal Advincula emphasized that St. John the Baptist’s companionship with Jesus enabled him to have honourable sacrifice in his mission, to pave the way for Jesus.

On the other hand, the Cardinal stated how this mission is rooted in truth by the loyalty shown by St. John the Baptist to Jesus which deepened their companionship to evangelize everyone.

Kung pag-iimbot pa o pagkukubli man sa pagitan nila, hindi pa sila magkaibigan,” he said.

Cardinal Advincula hopes that as St. John the Baptist became a good friend to Jesus by being a ‘bearer’ of the truth, the faithful may realize that the truth may strengthen them despite the challenges brought by the world.

“Pangatawan natin ang pagiging kaibigan ni Hesus.  Panindigan natin ang katotohanan ni Hesus.  Kung lalaliman natin ang pakikipagkaibigan natin kay Hesus, makikilatis nating maigi ang katotohanan,” he said.

Cardinal Advincula also led the celebration of the Holy Eucharist at the Minor Basilica and Archdiocesan Shrine of the Black Nazarene , St. John the Baptist parish (Quiapo Church) at 12:15 in the afternoon. (By Hazel Boquiren/RCAM-AOC | Photo by Maricar Santos | Photogallery)
