On behalf of the priests of the Vicariate of Sta. Clara de Montefalco, I wish to convey our deepest sentiments for the passing of Msgr. Teston, Parish Priest of Our Lady of the Airways.
His death came as a surprise to all of us – his brother priests in the ministry, in the Archdiocese of Manila, especially in this Vicariate. As a true evangelical experience, no one knows the hour of the Lord’s coming into one’s life and so a real preparation is necessary. The passing of Msgr. Teston last Sept. 10, 2021 caught many of us unprepared in this bewildering pandemic crisis. Due to health concern, protocols by the government imposing restrictions to physical movements even made the situations unsettling. The desire to pay respect with utmost devotion, to show love with sincerity, and to express sympathy with human and gentle touch to the family of the late Msgr. Teston, as well as to his parishioners, could hardly be done. Misunderstanding may cripple good plans and communications and may possibly hurt feelings. However, the spirit remains free and we are called to seek the truth, the holy and the good. With God, thru the intercession Mary, our mother in grace, we become victorious in our search, we can still do the best we can.
In this moment of grief and anxiety, our faith enables us to come closer to one another, even virtually. We have offered prayer of gratitude to the Lord for the faithful service and the priestly ministry of Msgr. Teston to this parish for 45 years, and prayer of supplication that the Lord may show mercy on the soul of Msgr. Teston, forgiving all his shortcomings knowing that remained human as a priest. No better offering could be given to the late Msgr. Teston except a humble prayer to God for his intention and his loved ones.
Today, the remains of Msgr. Modesto Teston will leave the parish of Our Lady of the Airways, the Vicariate of Sta. Clara de Montefalco and the Archdiocese of Manila, and will go back home to Baras, Province of Rizal, and his soul will journey back to God. And we thank the Lord for his life and ministry as a priest. We thank also the family of Msgr. Teston for the generous sharing and giving of Msgr. Teston to the service of the Church. To Msgr. Teston, “in vino, veritas.”
