Manila announces new appointments for seminaries, church’s transition team

Manila Archbishop Jose Cardinal Advincula has issued new appointments as part of efficient and continuous efforts to streamline major pastoral and temporal services of the country’s oldest diocese.

In its circular released by the Chancery on April 22, he appointed Rev. Fr. Rolando P. Garcia, Jr. and Rev. Fr. Jaime S. Marquez as rectors of San Carlos Seminary (SCS) and Our Lady of Guadalupe Minor Seminary (OLGMS), respectively, effective on June 1, 2024.

Long-time OLGMS rector, Rev. Fr. Emerico Sixto Juan Garcia, meanwhile, will be designated as the new spiritual director of SCS’ Configuration Stage Department.

The circular also announced the creation of a Transition Team that would oversee the turnover of the 17th century Nuestra Señora de Gracia Parish in Guadalupe, Makati from the Augustinian Province of Santo Niño de Cebu to the care of the Archdiocese of Manila.

The Transition Team head  and outgoing SCS rector and Rev. Fr. Joselito R. Martin would serve as its parish priest, while RCAM Extraordinary Phenomena commissioner Rev. Fr. Jose Francisco C. Syquia will be assigned as his parochial vicar, both effective August 1, 2024. (By Lem Leal Santiago/RCAM-AOC)
