Makati Parish Priest and Cardinal Santos Hospital Chaplain, Installed

Fr. Gerard Reyes and Fr. Mark Adame Bakari OFM were installed on March 10 as Chaplain of Cardinal Santos Medical Center Miraculous Medal Chapel and Parish Priest of Santuario de San Antonio Parish respectively.

Manila Archbishop Jose F. Cardinal Advincula empasized on his homilies the role of a priest as the Church’s shepherd.

“Earlier, during the rite of installation, you professed your faith. You made your oath. You renewed your priestly promises. That was Jesus’ way of asking you, “Do you love me?”  Thank you for saying “Yes.”  Jesus then tells you, “Feed my sheep.”

Archbishop Advincula hopes that the task of the priestly ministry will not be reduced to a mere obligation.

He adds, “While it is true that bearing the sheep on our shoulders includes carrying the cross, this synodal and compassionate shepherding is not a burden to us because we are to serve out of love.”

Archbishop Advincula ends the homilies with a prayer of guidance for the newly installed priests; entrusting the new shepherds to the Blessed Virgin Mary, Our Lady of the Miraculous Medal, St. Francis and, St. Anthony.
