Chairman of CBCP-Episcopal Commission on Laity, Bishop Broderick Pabillo, emphasized that the laity should actively take part in the work of spreading the Light of Christ.
The Couples for Christ has recently conducted a webinar entitled, ‘Responsible Christian Citizenship’ and Bishop Pabillo was the resource person. He also stands as the Spiritual Adviser of Couple for Christ.
“Nakalagay din sa Canon Law, yang Canon Law yan ang batas ng Simbahan ang Canon225 Paragraph 2 na ‘Lay people have, according to each one’s own condition, they are also bound by a particular duty to imbue and perfect the order of temporal affairs with the spirit of the gospel and thus to give witness to Christ, especially in carrying out these same affairs and in exercising secular functions.’
According to the Bishop of the Apostolic Vicariate of Taytay, the laity is being challenged to take responsibility of putting into practice and spreading the Word of God in the secular world.
The Responsible Christian Citizenship Webinar aims to remind Catholics that being a “good Catholic” is not being a faithful church-goer, but also being a good citizen.
The webinar was part of the laity initiative of preparing voters for the upcoming 2022 elections. Bishop Pabillo encourages the faithful to be wise in choosing candidates and to choose God-fearing leaders for the sake of the future of the nation. (Fatima Llanza/RCAM-AOC)
