Archbishop Valles back as CBCP President

Davao Archbishop Romulo Valles resumes his post as president of the Catholic Bishops’ Conference of the Philippines (CBCP).

In a circular released by CBCP on Nov. 5, Kalookan Bishop Pablo Virgilio David said that Archbishop Valles has recovered very well” and is “ready to resume his office as president”.

“After getting a clean bill of health from his doctors, Archbishop Valles has signified his readiness to resume office as our CBCP President,” said Bishop David.

Archbishop Valles was “temporarily incapacitated by a mild stroke in May 2020” and has appointed Bishop David, who is the current Vice-President of CBCP, as acting President.

According to Bishop David, Archbishop Valles will preside the next CBCP Permanent Council meeting via Zoom on November 25, 2020.

The Bishop assured Archbishop Valles of his continued support in whatever way he can. He also told the faithful in the circular that all communications concerning the Office of the CBCP President will again be redirected to the office of Archbishop Romulo Valles. (Jheng Prado/RCAM-AOC)
