Webinar on “Human Dignity and Environmental Rights” set on July 13

The Archdiocese of Manila Ministry on Ecology will hold a webinar on Human Dignity and Environmental Rights on July 13, 2020, at 10 a.m., via Zoom.

The webinar is a collaborative initiative of the Commission on Human Rights and Living Laudato Si Philippines. It is aimed to provide a platform for discussing the relationship between human dignity and environmental rights. The discussions will also highlight the basic principles of human rights to a healthy and safe environment. The gathering hopes to help the participants to understand more Laudato Si, the church document on protecting the environment and biodiversity especially during this time of crisis.

Atty. Roberto Eugenio T. Cadiz, Commissioner, Commission on Human Rights will give the Welcome Remarks while Bishop Broderick Pabillo, Apostolic Administrator of Manila will deliver a talk on the topic, “Laudato Si and Human Dignity During this Time of Crisis.” Atty. Antonio A. Oposa, Jr., Ombudsman for Future Generations International Council of Environment, will tackle the Relationship Between Human Dignity and Environmental Rights.

The Archdiocese's Ministry on Ecology has always advocated for the close collaboration of different organizations to achieve safe, clean, healthy and sustainable environment, which in turn leads to the respect, protection and fulfillment of human rights.

Since the establishment of the ministry, it has focused on the promotion of fair human rights as well as the protection of environmental rights. The youth sector is also a priority for the ministry to raise their level of awareness that they are also part of the ecology and so become a generation that genuinely cares for nature.
