Filipino children join ‘One Million Children Praying the Rosary’ for unity and world peace

Filipino children from all over the country participated in the international prayer initiative called “One Million Children Praying the Rosary” on Wednesday, October 18, at the Immaculate Conception Cathedral in Pasig City.

Organized by the Catholic Pontifical and charity foundation Aid to the Church in Need (ACN), the religious event returned face to face three years after the surge of the COVID-19 pandemic.

“Itong project na ginagawa nila (ACN ng Papal Foundation) every year so itong rosaryo, so ito yung venue ang ganda ng venue na nakakatuwa na kasama tayo ng (Diocese of) Pasig sa kanilang anibersaryo ng 450 years at 20 years ng pagiging diocese nila. 450 sa kanilang pananampalataya at pagkatapos sa pamamagitan ng rosaryo ay hindi ba ang mensahe ng ating Mahal na Birhen for peace and unity di ba yun ang gusto niya, if you want to be called the children of God you promote peace,” Fr. Jaime Marquez, ACN-Philippines Administrator and Procurator and Head Spiritual Director of Our Lady of Guadalupe Minor Seminary told Radio Veritas.

Among those who participated in the prayer campaign were students from the Pasig Catholic College, seminarians from the Our Lady of Guadalupe Minor Seminary, schools, parishes, and other communities in the different archdioceses and dioceses in the Philippines.

The objective of the rosary campaign is to show that the trusting prayer of children can fly like an arrow straight to the heart of God and therefore has such great power. The worldwide common prayer of the rosary by children brings many graces upon the world and is a great blessing for families and the Church.

The One Million Children Praying the Rosary campaign was launched in Caracas, Venezuela in 2005. The Philippines joined the campaign in 2016.

The Rosary is a form of prayer in the Catholic tradition that involves the repetition of prayers and the meditation on various events in the lives of Jesus Christ and the Virgin Mary. It is typically prayed using a string of beads with specific prayers for each bead.

Aid to the Church in Need (ACN) is an international Catholic charity organization that provides assistance and support to Christians who are suffering from persecution, discrimination, or poverty around the world. (Jheng Prado/RCAM-AOC | Phot by Mio Angelo Hermoso/RCAM-AOC | Photogallery)
