Faithful urged to be constantly “self-giving”

Manila Archbishop Jose Cardinal Advincula urged the faithful to constantly find ways to offer oneself for others the way Jesus offered His body and blood for everybody’s salvation.

Speaking before the community of the Archdiocesan Shrine of the Blessed Sacrament in Manila on Corpus Christi Sunday, June 2, the archbishop of Manila elaborated how the Lord sacrificed Himself to ease all kinds of “hunger” as he cited various parables in the Bible, where He made Himself available to those in need.

“Buhay-pagbibigay ang naging buhay ni Hesus. Constant self-giving. Constant availability for others. We do not only hunger for food. Our heart hungers for love, acceptance, relationships. Tinugunan lahat ito ni Hesus,” he said.

He also dared those present in the Mass if they allow Christ to give life to their lives.

Emphasizing the significance of the Solemnity of the Most Holy Body and Blood in Christian faith, the archbishop of Manila invited the faithful to give themselves to God and to others by showing mercy and forgiveness, and to live life like Jesus.
