EASTER MESSAGE 2024

“Exult, let them exult, the hosts of heaven, exult, let angel ministers of God exult, let the trumpet of salvation sound aloud our mighty King’s triumph! Be glad, let the earth be glad, as glory floods her, ablaze with light from her eternal King, let all corners of the earth be glad, knowing an end to gloom and darkness. Rejoice, let Mother Church also rejoice, arrayed with the lighting of his glory, let this holy building shake with joy, filled with the mighty voices of the peoples.”

These are beautiful words that we can find in the Easter Proclamation or Exsultet of the Easter Vigil. Let all corners of the earth be glad. Let this holy building shake with joy, filled with the mighty voices of the peoples. Alleluia. He has been raised from the dead. Alleluia. He is alive. Alleluia. The Lord is with us. In the words of St. Augustine, “We are an Easter people and Alleluia is our song.”

Easter is the time to open our eyes to Jesus who is alive. Easter is the time to renew our faith in Him. He is not a figure or a character from the past. He is with us as He was with the apostles and His early followers. He lives and walks with us. He calls us to follow Him. He invites us to turn away from our sinful lives and walk the path to life and eternity. Easter is a moment to accept the new life that Jesus is giving to everyone. He conquered sin and death. And he is assuring us that we can do the same. He is offering us a chance to live again and rise from our afflictions and failures. He tells you today, “You are loved. I have done everything for you. I embraced the cross for you. I went to the place of the dead for you. I have risen for you. Rise, with me. Live in me. Follow me.”

My dear brothers and sisters, to be an Easter people is to reach out and to give the light of Jesus to so many of our brothers and sisters who wish to see and discover the Lord. May you continue to grow in faith and love and be a beacon of hope for all.

Happy Easter to all of you.
