Diocese of Pasig holds 8th Pasig Catholic Mass Media Awards

The Pasig Catholic Mass Media Awards (PCMMA) was held virtually last Saturday, November 6, 2021, at 5 in the afternoon.

The PCMMA is in its 8th year of recognizing and celebrating the outstanding works of social communicators in the cities of Pasig and Taguig and the Municipality of Pateros.

Carrying the theme for this year’s World Communications Sunday, “Come and See,” PCMMA aims to showcase the media outputs of the faithful of the diocese as well as to recognize and show appreciation of their work especially during this time of the pandemic where social communications ministry has played a vital role in bringing the Word of God to every home. PCMMA also wants to inspire the faithful to continue to encounter and proclaim God’s love and mercy through various means of social communication.

In his opening message, Pasig Bishop Mylo Hubert Vergara reflected on the invitation of Pope Francis for the 55th World Communications Day, “Come and See” as one of the methods for all authentic human communication by encountering people where and as they are because to communicate the truth we must go to the source, God and his people.

“We are invited to see once more the realities of life especially those in the peripheries, those of us affected by this pandemic and those who extended a helping hand even when they themselves are needy,” Bishop Vergara said.

“We are invited to experience the truth and to express the truth to all that all may be called to act, to do something so that the reality of God’s kingdom of justice, of peace, and of hope may come to ask,” he added.
