Devotion to Santo Nino should show love for country and children

Former Administrator of Manila Bishop Broderick S. Pabillo told the faithful that devotion to the Santo Nino should reflect two characteristics: love for country and love for children.

“Ang ating debosyon sa Sto Nino ay dapat magpakita ng dalawang katangian – pagmamahal sa bayan at pagmamahal sa mga bata,” Bishop Pabillo said during Mass for the feast of Santo Nino at St. Joseph the Worker Cathedral in Taytay, Palawan on January 16, 2022.

The Santo Nino said Bishop Pabillo who is the Vicar Apostolic of Taytay, Palawan is part of the history of the Philippines that is why he encouraged the faithful to pray for the welfare of the country especially for the coming election in May.

Huwag nating ipagbili ang bayan kaya huwag nating ipagbili ang ating boto,” he said.

Bishop Pabillo also stressed that the other characteristic of the devotion to the Santo Nino is the love for children.

The Filipinos, Bishop Pabillo said are naturally close to children that is why they are also close to the child Jesus or the Santo Nino. And the children, he added are blessings and gifts to be grateful for.

“Huwag natin silang tingnan bilang gastos.

On May 9, 2022, the Philippines will hold its national election, which will include electing a new president and vice-president. The said election will be crucial for the nation as it will elect officials who will lead towards the recovery after the ravages of the COVID-19 pandemic. (Jheng Prado| File Photo/RCAM-AOC)
