Kalookan Bishop and Catholic Bishops’ Conference of the Philippines (CBCP) President urged the faithful on Wednesday to take part and be involved in May 9, 2022 elections.
In his homily during the Solidarity Mass for the Moral Vote held at the National Shrine of Our Mother of Perpetual Help (Baclaran Church), Bishop David asked the faithful to fulfill their duties as Filipino citizens by voting for candidates that are morally upright and can perform well the duties and responsibilities in the government.
Iboboto daw yung winable. Nasaan ang malasakit sa ganyang attitude?” he added.
Bishop David reminded the faithful of the importance of their active participation in politics and urged them not to risk the future of the country.
“Kailangang kasangkot at kabahagi tayo. Huwag sana nating isugal ang kinabukasan ng ating bansa,” he said.
The CBCP head also encouraged the people to be vigilant since there is a rampant proliferation of disinformation on social media.
The Solidarity Mass was presided by Manila Archbishop Jose F. Cardinal Advincula and was attended by bishops, clergy and religious from the different dioceses under the Ecclesiastical Province of Manila.
The Mass was in line with the CBCP pastoral letter titled “Be Concerned about the Welfare of Others” released last March 27, 2022. It hopes to promote and safeguard a clean and honest election on May 9, 2022. (Jheng Prado/RCAM-AOC | Photo by Genieve Genuino/Contributor)
