Caritas Manila gives P1.5 Million gift certificates for World Day of the Poor

Catholic Churches in the Philippines gives P1.5 million pesos worth of gift certificates in celebration of the World Day of the Poor on Sunday, November 13, 2022.

The gift certificates from Caritas Manila were given by Radio Veritas 846 through its public service program “Caritas in Action” where P150 thousand were distributed to each diocese in Mega Manila.

Each selected family will receive one thousand pesos GCs which can be exchanged or purchased by the beneficiaries at a well-known grocery store in the country.

Among the dioceses that will receive the GCs are the dioceses of Cubao, Caloocan, Novaliches, Pasig, Parañaque Malolos, San Pablo in Laguna, Imus, Antipolo and the Archdiocese of Manila.

Recipients of the GCs are the poorest among the poor or who earn less than a thousand pesos.

Radio Veritas 846 and Caritas Manila believe that this aid is only part of the ongoing efforts of the Catholic Church to share and support those who are in need.

Earlier, Manila Archbishop Cardinal Jose Advincula announced that this year’s celebration of the World Day of the Poor is a challenge for believers to examine themselves from the various forms of poverty the country is facing today.
