Cardinal Jo resumes parish visitations and masses after recovering from COVID

Manila Archbishop Jose F. Cardinal Advincula led the celebration of the Holy Eucharist for the Feast of Our Lady of Fatima at the Our Lady of Fatima Parish in Mandaluyong on October 13, 2021.

In his homily addressed to the faithful of the parish of Our Lady of Fatima, he encouraged them to become a community who listens to the Word of God and obeys it.

“My brothers and sisters here in the parish of Our Lady of Fatima in Mandaluyong, let this be our common vision, let us try to be a community that listens to the word of God and observes it.

During his homily, he cited Mary’s significant role in the salvation history of mankind. He urged the faithful to be like Mary who listened and obeyed the Word of God by acknowledging the message of the angel that she will become the mother of Christ.

The feast of Fatima is celebrated every 13th of October and is considered one of the most important series of Marian apparitions in the Roman Catholic Church. This year marks the 104th anniversary of the first of the six apparitions of the Blessed Mother to three shepherd children – Lucia dos Santos and her cousins, Francisco and Jacinta Marto at the Cova de Ira in Fatima, Portugal in 1917.

Last September 17, 2021, Cardinal Advincula tested positive for COVID-19 and underwent quarantine and observed strict protocols. After recovering from the virus, he held Mass for the Feast of Fatima at the Our Lady of Fatima Parish in Mandaluyong and resumes parish visitations as he continues to get to know the Archdiocese of Manila since his installation.
