Cardinal Advincula to lead Nazareno 2023 Fiesta Mass

“Higit na Mapalad ang mga Nakikinig sa Salita ng Diyos at Tumutupad nito.”

The celebration for Nazareno 2023 started with the three-day blessing of the Nazareno replicas last Dec. 27-29, 2022, in front of the Minor Basilica of the Black Nazarene more popularly known as Quiapo Church.

The nine-day novena to the Black Nazarene at the Quiapo church also started on Dec. 31, 2022, to Jan. 8, 2023. A dawn motorcade procession was held on Dec. 31, at 12 am.

A Mass for the Solemnity of Mary Mother of God was held on Jan. 1, at 3 p.m. followed by the procession of the image of the Blessed Virgin Mary at 4 p.m.

A Barangay visitation within Quiapo Community was scheduled for Jan. 1-6.

To mark the start of the “Pagpupugay”  (Jan. 7-9), a celebration of the Holy Eucharist was held at the Quirino Grandstand on Jan. 7, at 12 am. A Send-Off Mass for all the volunteers of Nazareno 2023 was also held at the same venue at 6 a.m., presided over by Fr. Hans Magdurulang.

The “Walk of Faith” will commence with the celebration of the Holy Eucharist at 12 am, to be led by Fr. Rufino Sescon, Rector of Quiapo also at the Quirino Granstand on Jan. 8, to be followed by the procession.

Manila Archbishop Jose F. Cardinal Advincula will preside over the celebration of the Holy Eucharist for the feast of the Black Nazarene on Jan. 9, at 12 midnight.

Devotees who will participate and attend the Mass are encouraged to follow protocol procedures by observing physical distancing, wearing of facemasks and to use alcohol or disinfectants.
