Manila Archbishop Jose F. Cardinal Advincula presided over the mass for the blessing of the new Tabernacle of Ina ng Laging Saklolo Parish, Sta. Ana, Manila, last Saturday, February 10, 2024.

Cardinal Advincula reflected in his homily how the leper suffers from isolation in the society and how religious leaders believe that lepers have no connection with God. After Jesus healed him, not only was he cured from his disease but his dignity was also restored.

“Jesus broke distance. He touched the leper. Pahalagahan. Pansinin. Lapitan. Hawakan. Ito’y magiging kakaibang karanasan – karanasan ng pagpapala, karanasang nagbibigay-buhay,” he said.

Cardinal Advincula also emphasized how the leper becomes an image of every Christian, who has received the grace of God, spreading the news that they were healed. He added that the readings show the importance of a community and companionship among its members.

(By: Louise Nazir A.
