Black Nazarene is proof that God is with us in our struggles – Cardinal Advincula

This was what Manila Archbishop Jose Cardinal Advincula reminded the faithful about our veneration to the centuries-old icon of Jesus Christ as the Black Nazarene as the nation celebrated its feast this year.

In his homily at the Farewell Mass for the Visit of the Black Nazarene at the National Headquarters of the Bureau of Fire Protection in Quezon City, he explained that God wanted to be one of us because He wanted to join us especially during moments of struggles and tragedies in our lives.

The Archbishop of Manila also emphasized that Jesus – as embodied by the image of the Black Nazarene – is the answer to the question often asked by those who lost their loved ones and livelihood because of the devastation of Typhoon Odette and by the coronavirus pandemic.

He encouraged everyone to become true devotees of the Black Nazarene ay showing love and compassion to our fellow people.
