Bishop Santos aims Antipolo Diocese to be center of Marian Devotions

Newly installed Bishop Ruperto Santos said that the Diocese of Antipolo will center on the devotion of the Blessed Virgin Mary under his administration.

According to the Bishop, as the home of the International Shrine of Our Lady of Peace and Good Voyage – the first international shrine in the Philippines, it is appropriate to promote greater devotion to the Blessed Mother who will guide the faithful to the path of Christ.

“Maging center ng cultural, theological at Marian conferences and congresses ang Antipolo para mas lumawak at lumalim ang debosyon sa Mahal na Birhen,” Bishop Santos told.

Bishop Santos first asked the faithful to pray for him for his new mission, especially knowing the associated responsibilities and challenges he will face.

“Please help me with your prayers, remember me always at the altar of our Lord. Intercede me to our Blessed Mother Mary that my episcopal ministry be like her: peace, good and full of grace,” the Bishop said.

In April 2010, he was appointed as Bishop in the Diocese of Balanga following his appointment as Rector of the Pontificio Collegio Filippino in Rome.

On May 24, 2023, Pope Francis appointed Bishop Santos as successor to Bishop Francis De Leon after he retires upon reaching the mandatory retirement age.
