Bishop Buco named Judicial Vicar of Philippine Appellate Tribunal

Antipolo Auxiliary Bishop Nolly Buco is named as the new head of the Church office which handles marriage nullity cases in the Philippines.

According to CBCP News, Bishop Buco will take over the office from Bishop Emeritus Antonio Tobias of Novaliches, who served as the Judicial Vicar of the National Tribunal of Appeals since January 2018.

Along with the other officials of the Catholic Bishops’ Conference of the Philippines, the 60-year-old Canon Lawyer took his oath of office for the term December 2023 to November 2025 on Saturday at the beginning of the bishops’ three-day plenary assembly.

Known as the “Instructor Delegate”, Bishop Buco will also oversee the cases of clerics handled by the CBCP Office of Dispensation and Dismissal.

Bishop Buco continues to serve as the Judicial Vicar in the Antipolo Diocese, a post he has held before becoming a bishop in 2018. (Louise Nazir Banzuela/SOCOM-san Felipe Neri Parish | Photo from OLA Marikina Website)
