The Archdiocese of Manila called on the faithful to join the day of prayer, fasting and penance for peace on Friday, October 27, 2023.
“We encourage our communities to organize prayer initiatives for this intention like the Mass for Peace, Adoration of the Blessed Sacrament/Holy Hour, the praying of the holy rosary, or any other celebrations of the Word of God,” according to the circular signed by Fr. Carmelo Arada, Vice Chancellor of the Archdiocese of Manila.
The circular issued to all the clergy of Manila is in response to the call of the Holy Father Pope Francis to hold a day of prayer, fasting and penance on Oct. 27 in solidarity with our brothers and sisters who are experiencing war between Israel and Palestine.
Attached in the circular letter is the liturgy (English and Tagalog) for the Eucharistic Adoration for Peace in the Holy Land that parishes and communities can use to pray for peace.
Earlier, Pope Francis assured prayers for the victims of the war.
The ongoing war between Israel and the Hamas militant group broke out last October 7, 2023, and has killed more than 5,000 lives, and more than 15,000 were abducted and severely injured according to Veritas news post. (Jheng Prado/RCAM-AOC | File Photo of RCAM-AOC)
