Antidote to hunger for power is desiring to serve the good of others–Cardinal Tagle

The Prefect of the Congregation for the Evangelization of Peoples, His Eminence, Luis Antonio G. Cardinal Tagle, called on the faithful to pray for God’s guidance as the nation is in search for servant leaders who will sacrifice their lives for the good of all and not for their own benefit.

As he reflected on the Gospel for the 29th Sunday in Ordinary Time for a Mass at the Pontificio Collegio Filippino in Rome, Cardinal Tagle urged everyone to seek for “Jesus’ brand of kingdom” especially that people are becoming desperately fighting for positions of power for their own stature and advantage.

“We see how the world, how human beings, how creation are being destroyed by this crazy search for being seated at the right hand, being seated at the left hand. And when they seated at the right, at the left of whoever they lorded over others, they make their importance felt,” he said.

With the current situation in the Philippines preparing for the 2022 election, the former Manila Archbishop encouraged everyone to unite in reawakening our sense of selfless sacrifice by sharing kindness to more people without thinking of any recognition or prominence from others.

(Lem Leal Santiago/SOCOM-Binondo Church  | File Photo of RCAM-AOC)
