4th Manila Cathedral-Basilica Pipe Organ Festival

 

The Manila Cathedral will mark its 50th Anniversary as Post-War Cathedral on the feast of the Solemnity of her patroness Mary, the Immaculate Conception on December 8, 2009 and its Pipe Organ on December 10, 2009.

These celebrations will feature the 4th Manila Cathedral-Basilica Pipe Organ Festival.  The Gala Concert will be on Thursday, December 3, 2009 at seven in the evening.

The concert will showcase the biggest Church Pipe Organ in the Southeast Asia with almost 6,000 pipes.  The Philippine Philharmonic Orchestra (PPO) will add grace to the occasion along with the well-known Austrian Conductor, Dr. Ernest Hoetzl.  It will also gather 150 voice combined choir to sing Christmas carols to be accompanied by the PPO.

This concert will be one of the major closing activities of the 50th Post-War Manila cathedral which was dedicated in December 1958.

The concert will benefit the restoration projects of the Cathedral and the victims of typhoons Ondoy and Pepeng.
