Archdiocese of Manila helps victims of typhoon Nina

Archdiocese of Manila through Caritas Manila immediately responded to the appeal of the different dioceses strongly affected by typhoon Nina that made a landfall on Christmas evening at Catanduanes and some parts of Bicol region.

Caritas Manila started providing relief operations and shelter assistance to Archdiocese of Nueva Caceres, Diocese of Legazpi, and Diocese of Virac in Catanduanes. Aside from food and shelter assistance, a total of 1.3 million pesos of financial assistance was provided to the families affected by the typhoon.

Earlier, in a message sent through Radio Veritas by Msgr. Clemente F. Ignacio, Vicar General of the Archdiocese of Manila, he said that Manila Archbishop Luis Antonio G. Cardinal Tagle calls on all the parishes to be ready to extend help to all local government units that will ask assistance from the Catholic Church.

“His Eminence Luis Antonio Cardinal Tagle appeals to the parishes to be ready to assist local government units in case they come to us. The government is doing its best to protect our citizens especially the vulnerable and homeless.” 

Caritas Manila also appeals for prayers and donations (in kind or in cash) for the relief and rehabilitation needs of the victims so to alleviate their sufferings.
