New Rectors/Parish Priests of Manila Cathedral, Shrines to be installed

 




The newly appointed rector of the Manila Cathedral and rectors of major shrines and churches in the Archdiocese of Manila will be installed in separate liturgical ceremonies in the coming days, all to be presided by Manila Archbishop Luis Antonio G. Cardinal Tagle.



Fr. Reginald Malicdem will be installed Rector of the Minor Basilica of the Immaculate Conception (Manila Cathedral) on August 14, 2015 at 6 p.m. The date coincides with the 420
th anniversary of the elevation of Manila as an Archdiocese. It is also the eve of the Solemnity of the Assumption of Mary. Fr. Malicdem will continue to serve as private secretary to the Archbishop.

The Manila Cathedral is considered the mother church of the Archdiocese and the church of the Archbishop. It has recently been renovated and was a venue for the Mass of Pope Francis for Bishops, Priests and Religious during his visit to the Philippines in January this year.

Msgr. Hernando Coronel will be installed Rector and Parish Priest of the Minor Basilica of the Black Nazarene (Quiapo Church) on August 6, 2015 at 6 p.m. Msgr. Coronel was previously the rector of the San Carlos Seminary. His past assignments included: secretary general of the Catholic Bishops’ Conference of the Philippines (CBCP) and oeconomo of the Archdiocese.  His installation will be preceded by the launching of One Good Vote of PPCRV at 5 p.m. at the 6
th floor of Benedict Building within the Quiapo church compound. Msgr. Coronel serves in the PPCRV.

Fr. Genaro Diwa will be installed Rector and Parish Priest of the National Shrine of St. Michael and the Archangels in Manila’s San Miguel district on August 15, 2015, the Solemnity of the Assumption of Mary at 6 p.m. One of the prominent churches of the Archdiocese, it includes within its jurisdiction the Malacañan Palace. It was known in the past as San Miguel Pro-cathedral and housed the Chancery of the Archdiocese.

Fr. Diwa continues to be the head of the Archdiocese’s Liturgy Commission and is the executive secretary of the CBCP’s Episcopal Commission on Liturgy.

Other Shrine rectors to be installed are Fr. Larry Abaca, Shrine of Mary Queen of Peace or EDSA Shrine on August 8, at 5:30 p.m.; Fr. Andy Lim, Shrine of San Lorenzo Ruiz in Binondo, and Fr. Wilmer Rosario, Archdiocesan Shrine of Espiritu Santo in Sta. Cruz, Manila.

Msgr. Mario Enriquez was installed new Rector and Parish Priest of the Archdiocesan Shrine of Nuestra Señora de Guia last July 16, 2015.
