Circular No. 2015-28

19 June 2015

TO: ALL PARISH PRIESTS, RELIGIOUS SUPERIORS (MEN AND WOMEN), HEADS OF SECULAR INSTITUTES, LAY ASSOCIATIONS AND MANDATED ORGANIZATIONS IN THE ARCHDIOCESE OF MANILA

RE: VISIT OF THE INTERNATIONAL EUCHARISTIC CONGRESS PILGRIM SYMBOL

Dear Reverend Monsignori, Fathers, Brothers, and Sisters in Christ:

The Philippines, led by the Archdiocese of Cebu, will be hosting the 51st International Eucharistic Congress on January 24-31, 2016 at Cebu City.  This is envisioned to provide opportunities for experiencing and understanding the Eucharist as a transforming encounter with the Lord as well as an occasion for the discovery and rediscovery of the faith (cf. IEC Primer).

In order to drumbeat this event and encourage the involvement of the different local Churches in the Philippines, the IEC Pilgrim Symbol is brought to different dioceses.  As an archdiocese we will welcome the pilgrim symbol at the Cathedral Basilica of the Immaculate Conception (Manila Cathedral) on July 2-6, 2015.

May I invite your parishioners, especially the members of the Adoracion Nocturna Fiilipina and the Apostleship of Prayer and your liturgical ministers (Extraordinary Ministers of Holy Communion, lectors, greeters and collectors, altar servers, Mother Butler Guild and music ministry), to come to the Cathedral on the assigned date for your parish or community. From July 2 to 5, there will be a short catechesis and Holy Hour at 6:00 in the evening.

July 2 (Thursday)
Parishes of Makati, Mandaluyong, San Juan, and Pasay area and Transparochial communities

July 3 (Friday)
Parishes of Manila City

July 4 (Saturday)
Seminaries and religious communities

May I also invite you to the Welcome Mass on July 2, Thursday, 2:00 in the afternoon, and to the Farewell Mass on July 6, Monday, 12:00 noon.

Thank you very much.  May God bless you always.

Sincerely yours in Christ,

(signed)
