Continuing Support for our Campaign "Huwag Kang Magnanakaw"

Circular No. 2015-15
25 February 2015

TO: ALL PARISH PRIESTS, SHRINE RECTORS, CHAPLAINS, SCHOOL DIRECTORS, AND SUPERIORS OF RELIGIOUS COMMUNITIES IN THE ARCHDIOCESE OF MANILA

RE: CONTINUING SUPPORT FOR OUR CAMPAIGN “HUWAG KANG MAGNANAKAW”

Greetings of Peace!

May I call upon all of you to continue supporting our on-going campaign “Huwag kang Magnanakaw” as one expression of the call to repent and believe in the Gospel. The Lenten season provides us with the opportunity to examine ourselves individually and collectively in relation to the 7th Commandment.  We are calling on all the faithful to celebrate the sacrament of reconciliation and join the traditional Visita Iglesia on Holy Thursday.

We envision a Holy Thursday where people walk hand in hand proclaiming God’s Mercy and Compassion.  It is in this regard that we are calling on parishioners joining the annual Visita Iglesia to wear the Huwag Kang Magnanakaw t-shirt as a symbol of rejecting the sin of stealing.  Our prophetic role denouncing all forms of evil deeds will be better known if we would actively support this effort.

Our advocacy is a continuing journey in up-rooting the culture of stealing on all levels of society and planting the seed of honesty, integrity, and generosity so as to finally reclaim the stolen dignity of the Filipino people.

Let us ask for forgiveness for sins committed against the 7th Commandment and ask God to heal our land.

Sincerely yours in Christ,
