Conference on Venerable Paul VI

The Venerable Paul VI will be beatified in Rome on October 19, 2014 in a liturgical celebration presided by Pope Francis. This is a singular moment of grace for the Church because Pope Paul VI contributed so much to Church renewal in meeting the challenges of the modern world.

As a tribute to this great man who put his stamp on the Second Vatican Council that gave birth to the Constitution on the Liturgy, the Episcopal Commission on Liturgy of the Catholic Bishops’ Conference of the Philippines (CBCP-ECL), the Archdiocesan Liturgical Commission, Manila, the Paul VI Institute of Liturgy and the San Beda College Graduate School of Liturgy will hold the Venerable Pope Paul VI Pastoral Conference on October 17, 2014,  at 3 p.m. at the San Carlos Seminary in Makati City.

There will be three main speakers: Archbishop Emeritus of Manila Gaudencio B. Cardinal Rosales on Pope Paul VI’s 1970 Pastoral Visit to the Philippines: An Eyewitness Account; Fr. James H. Kroeger, MM, on Pope Paul VI’s Apostolic Exhortation Evangelii Nuntiandi; and Msgr. Ricardo Serrano, STD, on Pope Paul VI’s Legacy of Pastoral Liturgy.

Bishop Julius Tonel, chairman of CBCP-ECL will deliver the opening remarks. The conference will end with solemn vespers.

Everyone is invited to this conference. Fr. Genaro O. Diwa, executive secretary of the CBCP-ECL said, “Two days before his beatification it will be opportune and spiritually nourishing to reflect on this holy man of the Church.”
