Two Cardinals at Manila Liturgy Congress




The past and present Cardinal-Archbishops of the Archdiocese of Manila will highlight the Congress on Liturgical Renewal of the Archdiocesan Liturgical Commission on May 18, 2013 at the SM Mall of Asia Arena. The Congress, which will have close to 13,000 participants in its morning and afternoon sessions, is one of the Archdiocese’s activities celebrating the Year of Faith of the Universal Catholic Church. The theme for the congress is “Faith Celebrated and Lived.”

Manila Archbishop Luis Antonio G. Cardinal Tagle will give the opening conference at 8 a.m. for the morning session and at 2:00 p.m. for the afternoon session on the topic: “Walking Through Vatican II.”  

Archbishop Emeritus of Manila Gaudencio B. Cardinal Rosales will be the presider at the morning and after Mass and commissioning of the lay liturgical ministers, that include Extraordinary Ministers for Holy Communion, Lectors and Commentators, Altar Servers, Greeters and Collectors and members of the Music Ministry and the Mother Butler’s Guild.   

Other Congress speakers include Novaliches Bishop Emeritus Teodoro C. Bacani, Jr. on “Faith and Liturgy” and Fr. Genaro O. Diwa, head of the Archdiocesan Liturgical Commission Manila and Executive Secretary of the Episcopal Commission on Liturgy, on “Major Themes of Sacrosanctum Concilium .”  Sacrosanctum Concilium (the Constitution on the Sacred Liturgy) is one of the four constitutions promulgated by the Second Vatican Council.

The Liturgical Congress participants are recommended by their parish priests, rectors, and chaplains and should pre-register with the ALC.  ##
