Archdiocese of Manila Social Communications Ministry to hold conference for World Communication Day

In the observance of the 51st World Communication Day, the Social Communications Ministry of the Archdiocese of Manila will hold a half day conference on May 27, 2017, the Solemnity of the Ascension of the Lord at the Layforce auditorium in San Carlos Seminary Compound, EDSA Guadalupe Makati City from 8 am to 12:00 noon.

The conference entitled “Communicating Hope and Trust in our Time: Philippine Media Perspectives” is open to all social communications ministry members of the Archdiocese of Manila and aims to make use of social media as a means to evangelize and remind the faithful to use it in building and strengthening life and faith.

Following the theme of the 51st World Communications Sunday, “Communicating Hope and Trust in our Time,” this yearly celebration highlights the important role of communication media in her mission of evangelization.

In his message in this year’s World Communication Day, Pope Francis enjoined the faithful to be transformed in its collective effort of communicating the Word of God to the World.

“I would like to encourage everyone to engage in constructive forms of communication that reject prejudice towards others and foster a culture of encounter, helping all of us to view the world around us with realism and trust.”

Instituted in 1969, the World Communication Day is marked every year on the Sunday before the Pentecost. This year, it fell on May 28.
