Government and Church Leaders unite for Day of Consecration on May 13, Feast of Our Lady of Fatima

“Let us be one with the whole Church.”

This is the title of the recent Pastoral Instruction released by the Apostolic Administrator of the Archdiocese of Manila for parishes, religious communities and families.

Bishop Broderick Pabillo encourages the faithful of the Archdiocese to participate in the Consecration to the Immaculate Heart of Mary on May 13, the 103rd anniversary of Our Lady's apparition in Fatima, Portugal.

In his instruction, the Bishop laid down a few activities for the event that will allow the faithful to be personally connected with the Lord and with each other “in and through the Church as the Body of Christ.”

On that day, there will be the praying of the rosary at 8:30 am and to be followed by the prayer of consecration of the whole country to the Blessed Virgin. The prayers, which will be simultaneous in different places all over the country, will be led by bishops from different dioceses. The National Shrine of Our lady of Fatima in Valenzuela will be the venue for the culmination with the celebration of the Holy Mass, to be presided by Bishop Dennis Villarojo, Bishop of the Diocese of Malolos.

The whole celebration will be streamed online with Radyo Veritas and TV Maria as main platforms for broadcast, with the help of the Diocese of Cubao.

A celebration of the Holy Eucharist at 12 noon on the same day will also be held at the Manila Cathedral. The mass will be attended by the 5 Mayors of the different cities within the Archdiocese of Manila and presided by Bishop Broderick Pabillo, its Apostolic Administrator. At the end of the mass the 5 Mayors together with the bishop, will lead the prayer of consecration to the Immaculate Heart of Mary for the Archdiocese and all its people.

The five Mayors who will attend the celebration are Mayor Francisco ‘Isko’ Domagoso (Manila), Mayor Carmelita Abalos (Mandaluyong), Mayor Imelda Calixto-Rubiano (Pasay), Mayor Abigail Binay (Makati), and Mayor Francisco Zamora (San Juan).

Still part of the Celebration of the Feast of Our Lady of Fatima, On May 10-12, a Triduum of fasting, prayer and reflection will also be held and aired via live stream through TV Maria and Radio Veritas. The Triduum will include praying of the Rosary and the Flores de Maria devotion at 3:30 p.m. followed by the reflection of Bishop Pabillo at 4:30 p.m. The prayers will be led by different sectors of the Church.

“I invite the social communication ministry of the parishes to hook in to broaden the reach of these broadcasts. Even individually please invite your friends and relatives in the Archdiocese to participate in these activities,” Bishop Pabillo said. (Jheng Prado/RCAM-AOC)
