Cardinal Tagle visits fire victims on his priesthood anniversary

Manila Archbishop Luis Antonio G. Cardinal Tagle spent his 35th anniversary of priesthood by visiting the fire victims in Parola Compound in Tondo, Manila on Monday, February 27.

Cardinal Tagle visited at least three thousand families that became homeless after a fire broke out on February 7.  Most of the families are nestled in different evacuation centers.

He assured the fire victims that the Catholic Church is always faithful to their mission of helping those who are in need.

Despite the devastation, Cardinal Tagle is hopeful that the spirit of unity, peace and love will reign in their hearts as they once again stand up and build a new life with their families.

He also asked them to encourage and support each other during these trying times.

Caritas Manila and Quiapo Church were first to send relief goods and other basic needs worth five hundred thousand pesos.

Caritas Manila will also build housing units for the victims of the fire.

Earlier, before Cardinal Tagle visited the fire victims, he celebrated Mass at the Arzobispado de Manila chapel in Intramuros at 10 a.m. He was joined by Manila Auxiliary Bishop Broderick S. Pabillo and Archdiocese of Manila Moderator Curiae, Msgr. Jose Clemente F. Ignacio. It was attended by his family, brother priests and Archdiocese of Manila employees.
