Cardinal Tagle says Goodbye to Imus his Hometown


"From here, I will be an overseas Filipino worker (OFW). Please continue to pray for me, especially for Pope Francis."

These were the words of His Eminence Luis Antonio G. Cardinal Tagle during the celebration of the Holy Eucharist at the Cathedral of Our Lady of Pillar as he bid farewell to his hometown in Imus, Cavite, On Monday, January 19, 2020.

"This kind of celebration gives me strength." the cardinal said.

In his homily, Cardinal Tagle warned the faithful against self-promotion, saying that mission without spirituality has no value.

"Mission is spirituality. We might be doing something but not a mission," he said.

Present during the celebration was the Bishop Reynaldo Evangelista, Bishop of Imus. Bishop Pedro Arigo, retired Bishop of Puerto Princesa, was also present as well as Cardinal's parents.

As the Cardinal Tagle is set to assume his post at the Vatican in February, the 7th Philippine Conference on New Evangelization was set to be held on January 28 and 29, 2020 at the Araneta Coliseum, which he himself will lead for the last time as the Archbishop of Manila.
