Cardinal Tagle leads Black Nazarene Devotees in Prayer for Middle East Tension


His Eminence Luis Antonio G. Cardinal Tagle offers prayers for the Middle East during the midnight mass for the Feast of the Black Nazarene
 

In his homily during the Mass at the Quirino Grandstand on January 9, 2020, Cardinal Tagle requested the sea of devotees to include in their prayers all counties who are involved in the conflict, particularly the United States and Iran.

The newly appointed Prefect for the Propagation of Faith also asked the faithful to pray for their fellow Filipinos who work in the Middle East as well as their anxious families.

“Sa atin pong pagtitipon na puno ng pananalangin, pasasalamat, atin pong alalahanin na sa ilang bahagi ng ating mundo ay nag-aamba ng panganib ng karahasan at harinawa huwag umuwi sa gera, sa digmaan,” Cardinal Tagle said.

“Ipanalangin po natin na maging ligtas ang ating mga kapwa sa Middle East. Humupa ang mga pagnanais na sirain ang kapwa. Humupa ang mga hangarin na maghiganti at ipanalangin natin ang ating mga kapwa Pilipino. Ang kanilang mga pamilya dito na nangangamba, inaaanyayahan ko po kayo na tumahimik ng sandali at mag-alay ng panalangin para sa kapayapaan,” he added.

Earlier, His Holiness Pope Francis appeals for self-control amidst the heightened threat of war between the US and Iran saying, “War brings only death and destruction.”
