Aris Christian Pudol, seminarian at San Carlos Seminary sees the event as an opportunity towards having commonality with other religions.

"Para mawala yung prejudices or pre-conceived ideas nuka sa ibang religions para mas maging mutual, maging comfortable sa ibang religion," Pudol said.

For Joven Pabon, Social Communications Minster at the Our Lady of Fatima Parish, Interreligious Dialogue paves the way to becoming versatile and open to other religions.

"Yung kahit na mayroon tayong iba't ibang pinaniniwalaan at kultura nagiging versatile tayo and nagiging open para makipag kilala sa iba pang religion," Pabon said.

More than one hundred participants from San Carlos Seminary, Our Lady of Fatima Parish, Focolare Movement, The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, Hindu, Silpeace Manila attended the whole day event.

"The event was very enlightening. Even though we are from different religion, we found a common ground which is our service for the love of God," Jaymee Albos said, volunteer at the Latter Day Saints.

The Year of Ecumenism, Interreligious Dialogue and Indigenous Peoples is part of the nine-year novena in preparation for the 500 years of Christianity in the Philippines in 2021.

Ugnayan was organized by the Ministry on Ecumenical and Inter-faith Affairs of the Archdiocese of Manila in coordination with the Social Actions Committee Philosophy Department of San Carlos Seminary. (Jheng M. Prado/RCAM-AOC)
