TV Maria Introduces Workshop on Mobile Photography and Videography

TV Maria, the Filipino Catholic television channel in the Philippines, conducted its first workshop on Mobile Photography and Mobile Videography for the production team of Couples for Christ on October 27, 2016 at Manila Head Office of Couples for Christ Global Mission Foundation, Inc. The workshop is part of the Training on New Media spearheaded by the New Media Team of Radio Veritas together with EWTN - Asia Pacific.

Mr. Robert Bahia, the Technical Head of TV Maria, and Mr. Jiggo Santos, one of its video editors, led and guided the participants into the proper mindset as people involved in the social communications ministry of the Church.  Bahia and Santos introduced some of the basic principles and up-to-date tools that the participants could use in shooting and editing their video productions through their mobile devices.  The participants were also given time to present their output to the assembly for comments and suggestions.

The said workshop aims to encourage its participants to not be intimidated by rapid developments in technology, because what is more important is the user and not the medium. One of its objectives is to provide participants with a more accessible alternative to heavy and bulky video cameras — that is, their own handy mobile devices.  This workshop was made not only for media practitioners but for everyone who is involved in the ministry of social communications or are simply interested.

These series of trainings on New Media were launched as part of the efforts of the social communications ministry of the Archdiocese of Manila to keep the Church knowledgeable and skilled in the new technology and trends in modern communications.
